Karamazov – does he know he’s loved?
Here is a special story about a special cat at Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary in Rome, Italy.
In 2010, MyThreeCats.com decided to sponsor a very feisty black cat at this marvelous Sanctuary. They asked me what name I would like to give to this special hard luck kitty, and I promptly said, “Caruso”, named after my beloved father. My father loved cats, and along with me, was largely responsible for our family’s long history of cat adoptions.
Luckily, this past April, little Caruso found his forever home and has been quite happy ever since.
A handsome cat by the name of Karamazov has taken the initiative, he wants to take Caruso’s place to become MyThreeCats.com’s next Roman “adoption at a distance” cat. Karamazov, a handsome, already neutered male of about 4 years old, was abandoned on the top of the stairs leading to the Sanctuary’s underground shelter room on December 9th, 2011. Little Karamazov was trembling with fear.
Around him there were fast moving cars, buses and people. It must have been a terrible experience for him. Fortunately he was too scared to move and did not go into the busy street.
We do not know anything about his background. We only know that he was not a happy cat while he was in the nursery going through the vaccination procedure which kept him in his cage for several weeks. When he was allowed to be free in the nursery, he wanted nothing to do with anybody and preferred sitting on top of the cages, out of reach.
Daniele, a volunteer at the Sanctuary, gave him the name Karamazov but when we asked for which Karamazov the cat was named, he was not quite sure, perhaps the mean Karamazov, he said. But that was when the poor cat was still mistrustful, angry and nervous about being abandoned. Now, Karamazov feels better about being in a shelter with many other cats and has become friendly. He is on very good terms with Daniele, who now says that the cat is named for any one of the good Karamazov brothers!
Karamazov has understood that Daniele gives treats to cats that need medication after they swallow their bitter pill and that this daily ritual takes place in the infirmary. Karamazov does not need any medication but never fails to turn up for the treat and, he gets it too! He is never far away from Daniele, just to make sure.
Karamazov is MyThreeCats.com’s official new Roman “adoption from a distance”! Please feel free to add your comments about Karamazov!

Monopoly Game Adds Cat Token
According to our friends at CatChannel.com, (http://www.catchannel.com/news/2013/2/new-cat-monopoly-piece.aspx?cm_mmc=16269546 ) after international vote, cats have emerged as winners. That’s because Hasbro has announced that a cat will become the newest token in the game of Monopoly.
The company ran a competition on Facebook called “Save Your Token” to elect which tokens the wanted to keep. Visitors then chose between a robot, a helicopter, a guitar, a diamond ring and one shiny little cat.
The iron lost out. The wheelbarrow was a close second. The original 1935 remaining tokens include the car, the thimble, the boot, the battleship and the hat. Scottie dog and the wheelbarrow were introduced in 1952.
The new token options came with back stories. The cat is Scottie the dog’s arch rival. This could make for some interesting matches that will surely last for hours and maybe days into family vacations across the country.
On Feb. 15, a limited edition of the game will debut with all old and new tokens included.
