So you own a cat (or should we say, a cat owns you). What does that say about you?

There are apparently differences in personalities that have been observed between cat people and dog people.

We’ll concentrate on you, cat lover.  Here’s what studies at Carroll University in Wisconsin reveal.

Cat lovers are generally more introverted than dog lovers.  They’re also more open minded and sensitive.  They’re non-conformists, preferring to think “outside the box”.

These studies also showed that cat lovers scored higher on intelligence than dog lovers.  (do we dare say).

Denise Guastelle, an associate professor at Carroll University,  says “it makes sense that a dog person is going to be more lively, because they’re going to want to be out there, outside, talking to people, bringing their dog.  Whereas, if you’re more introverted and sensitive, maybe you’re more at home reading a book, and your cat doesn’t need to go outside for a walk.”

Cat lovers like the affection from their cats, while dog lovers value companionship.   They are also likely to enjoy living alone, and in urban areas.

Considering there are more than 80,000,000 cat households in the U.S. today, if you’re a cat lover, you have a LOT of company (Catblogger included, of course).

Are you a cat lover?  Go ahead, let us know!
